This is so beautiful. It’s my favorite piece of yours so far. The love for your husband and your sister and your family heritage, for your spirituality, Saint Anthony, the religion you say you don’t have, and even your love for me, is so palpable here. Thank you for writing and sharing.

Michelle, this means so much. Every time I read it, I’m back under that tree with you, arms around each other. I miss you, and I wish we lived closer, because time with you is good for my soul. You’re my inspiration, and that’s why this one was so easy to write. Let’s plan the next one soon. Love you.

I agree with Michelle, this is the best! I know the story but I was hanging on every beautiful word.

You writing is so beautiful and evocative. I loved this passage as I could feel and smell the pews (that scent of old polished worn wood), and see the images of the saints.

"old churches with wooden pews worn down by other people's knees, and my collection of vintage saints found in antique stores or handed down from relatives who've passed"
